The Davids Cookies Story

Back in 1979, in imitation of the fad for fresh-baked cookie shops along the west coast, David, a New York City chef with a winning cookie recipe, decided to start a small cookie-shop business of his own. Chef David, trained in the finest French culinary academies, began mixing and tasting; using only the finest, all natural, ingredients - pure vanilla, butter, Swiss chocolate and whole nuts, he achieved his anticipated result; a uniquely delicious cookie that looked and tasted "just like mamma made!" David was ready to open his very first cookie shop.

Passers by quickly fell in love with the funny shaped cookies, which were always fresh from the oven and loaded with chunks (not chips!) of chocolate. Fame and fortune came David's way; he won many awards for his fabulous cookies including the NY Newsday Cookie Award for the Best Chocolate Chunk Cookie! By the mid 1980's David's Cookies had flourished and grown at remarkable speed from a small store in Manhattan to a semi-international franchise organization with over 250 cookie shops in many different countries! With rising operating costs in the late 1980's, David's Cookies continued with its evolution and placed its feelers into the food service and co-branding industries.

David's Cookies was purchased by Fairfield Gourmet Foods a New Jersey-based cookie manufacturing company, also known as "Cookie Cupboard". This acquisition allowed for the reduction of costs associated with co-branding, by eliminating all franchising fees, as well as allowing direct sales assistance from the parent company. Today, a well trained sales force works with each customer, providing assistance with the ever-growing selection of gourmet items being offered, and advice with regards to the various components of our merchandising material, necessary for the development of a successful cookie "Store-Within-a-Store."

Fairfield, NJ, current home of David's Cookies' 60,000+ square ft. state-of-the-art facility, is but 15 miles west of New York City. Please come and visit our factory outlet store - cookie lover's heaven! All products produced by David's Cookies are kosher dairy, and under the supervision of the Orthodox Union of America, unless otherwise specified.

Online Shopping Brokers: Holiday Discount Bargains

Online shopping brokers is like going to the mall without all the traffic, people, lines and mess. If you are a bargain hunter and want to shop several different stores, but don't necessarily know which stores, you can easily find store information at ShoppingBrokers.com.

Online shopping brokers brings a comprehensive list of online stores to your fingertips. You can use a Search function for what you are looking for, and you can refer to an A-Z Directory of online shopping resources.

Every store listed at ShoppingBrokers.com will have Holiday Discounts & Bargains for shopping online this season. Many of the online stores offer free shipping and no sales tax. Plus, shopping from the convenience of your home or office is the best payoff of all!

The last time I drove to the mall to shop, I couldn't find a parking place. It took me over 30 minutes to finally squeeze my VW Beetle into a space next to a dumpster in the north forty! After walking until my legs ached, with my arms and shoulders full, I finally gave up and dragged myself back to the car, stuffed everything inside and drove home. I was exhausted.

Today, I decided to write about this little Holiday Shopping experience on a blog designed to eliminate the pain and suffering of holiday mall shopping. The online shopping brokers listed here solved all my holiday shopping needs.

At eFashionHouse.com I found the Chanel handbag of my dreams at 30% off the cost of retail. Most malls don't carry Chanel purses and accessories. Now, I can find all the authentic Chanel products I want in one handy online store called BrandsBoutique. The Chanel bag is being delivered to my door by Fedex at no cost and I paid no sales tax. I saved enough money on shipping and tax at eFashionHouse to pay for two more gifts.
eFashionHouse.com has a huge Sale and Clearance section. Unlike most of the other websites, eFashionHouse offers deeper discounts when shopping the Sale and Clearance sections of the site. Save these codes: OFF10 is for an extra 10% off all Sale items. OFF20 is for an extra 20% off all Final Clearance items.

My sister and niece want me to get them Tano Handbags this year. I found two perfect Tano Handbags online, received free shipping and paid no sales tax. The Tano Handbag Boogie Bucket style 9897 is an ideal purchase, one of the most popular Tano handbag styles and is under $200. It's availabe in 10 colors and is a great bargain online.

After all the women's gifts were purchased at eFashionHouse.com, I decided to look at Jos. A. Banks for some of the guys. Most of the men like new clothes for work. We found an array of office casual clothing at Jos. A. Banks (josbank) at great Holiday Discount Prices.

My husband wants a new computer. CompUSA offers holiday shoppers an assortment of rebates and deep discounts online. Plus, some of the items are available for free shipping. I'll stay with CompUSA this year for our tech needs. My son loves gadgets. I think CompUSA will have exactly what he wants and the entire purchase will be made with a click of the mouse from the comforts of home!

Many of our family members live in other parts of the country. We repeatedly resort to FTD Flowers for many of our brothers and their families. FTD Flowers is available throughout the world and are reliable consistently dependable for shopping online during the holidays. They are great for birthdays, too.

Young women fashionista types love new clothes. An online favorite is ShopBop.com for very cool contemporary clothes and zappos.com for designer shoes. Both ShopBop and zappos offer an extensive list of designer merchandise. ShopBop has hundreds of main stream and unique designers. zappos is the Internet's largest shoe store and offers free shipping. Both ShopBop and zappos offer no sales tax to many USA States.

Deigner handbags, wallets and designer accessories are found at eFashionHouse.com. eFashionHouse has five online stores packed with fashion accessories sold below the cost of retail. The five stores include ValueBags, ItalysOutlet, BrandsBoutique, LuxuryVintage and DesignersLA. Each eFashionHouse online shop carries products appropriate to the shop's name. ValueBags sells low priced deigner fashion from famous names like Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne and Tano. If you are in the market for purses this year, make sure to shop all the bargains found at eFashionHouse.com.

Online shopping brokers is a place where holiday shoppers can find gifts at reasonable prices from all their favorite stores without leaving the house. If you enjoy the crowded malls and need to get into the holiday spirit, visit your local Macy's or Sears . There's always fun at Macy's and Sears during the holiday season. Then, when you get home, sit in your comfortable chair, turn the power on your computer, and let your fingers do the rest of the shopping for you!

ShoppingBrokers.com was designed to make bargain hunting online a breeze this holiday season. Using a convenient "search" function or referring to the A-Z Directory of Online Shopping Broker stores, you'll surely find everything you need at the best prices, free shipping and no sales tax, too!

How to Find a Reputable Online Drugstore
By Kevin Treman

Since every other business known to man has moved their business out onto the internet it should have come as no surprise when the pharmaceutical companies decided to do the same. Yet the concept of an online drugstore, particularly one that deals in prescription medications, is one that is disconcerting to say the least. The potential to abuse the anonymity that buying drugs online presents is great, particularly in light of the fact that not all online pharmacies require interaction with a health care professional (i.e. they will sell prescription drugs without a prescription).

In light of the fact that not all drug stores require a prescription it stands to logic that not all of the drugs sold by these establishments are top quality either. There is always the potential of adverse side effects to a medication because it was improperly manufactured, resulting in a minute change to its chemical composition which can have resounding side effects within the body of the patient that they never could have predicted because the medicine in its purest form would cause no such reaction.

Regardless of the consequences, there are a number of benefits of shopping from an online drugstore. For those individuals who live in isolated areas it can be a godsend, saving them the long journey into town every time that they need to fill a prescription. This is especially true for senior citizens and those with chronic health problems who use a number of prescriptions regularly. Many online drugstores will also sell their medications at prices well below that of a regular pharmacy, a service which is priceless to the hundreds of people currently living without health insurance to help absorb some of the exorbitant cost of prescription drugs.

The dilemma, then, lies in identifying which online drugstores are reputable. The first thing to do when looking for an online drugstore is to attempt to find a virtual branch of a pharmacy which has already established a name for itself, such as Eckerd’s. Another is to look for the Vipps symbol on a pharmacies website. This means that the pharmacist is nationally certified and decreases a number of the safety risks involved with purchasing drugs online.

The practice of shopping for drugs online is a risky one regardless, but with the proper precautions it is possible to locate an honest, trustworthy online drugstore and reap the benefits that would not be available to you anyplace else.

Drugstore is one of the Internet's largest sources of drug news, information and online pharmacies. This site will help you evaluate online pharmacy resources and enable you to find sources of medications at competitive prices.

Online Shopping Brokers: Bellacor Crystal and Italian Glassware Gift Ideas
By Catherine Olivia

It's hard to find the perfect gift these days for anyone. You don't want to spend a fortune if you don't have to, but yet you don't want to give a "throw-away" gift either. For special occasions you want to choose a gift that will be treasured and remembered for years to come.
For an upcoming wedding you may want to give the gift of Waterford crystal bride and groom flutes. These are certainly keepsake items that will become treasured heirlooms. These crystal bride and groom flutes come in many different Waterford patterns such as Love and Romance, Lismore, Lismore Essence, Wedding Heirloom, Waterford Wishes Happy Celebrations, Waterford Connoisseur Gold, Waterford Ballet Giselle, Turtle Dove, Calling Birds and French Hens patterns. They can also be made more special with personalization.
Another fantastic gift idea is the gift of a crystal table lamp. Schonbek,Waterford, and Bellacor are just a few makers of fabulous crystal table lamps. They come in a wide variety of sizes, styles and colors. Waterford Killarney is a very popular crystal lamp pattern. Waterford also makes an impressive array of crystal chandeliers.
Italian crystal glassware is also another wonderful gift for a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary. Italian Murano glass is handcrafted by artisans on Italy's Sun Coast, where it has been made for many generations. There are many fine Italian glass makers such as Carlo Moretti, Richard Ginori and Luigi Bormioli. Each of these fine glassmakers has a wide selection of Italian stemware and drinkware. Carlo Moretti has a very popular line of glasses called Moretti Annuals that are popular with collectors. Richard Ginori is known for his Oceano line of stemware and decanters.
No woman can resist the gift of jewelry. Handmade crystal jewelry and crystal gemstone jewelry is always a welcome gift. Most crystal jewelry makers use the fine line of Swarovski Austrian crystals when they make their jewelry. These are the finest crystals made. There is also quite a market for crystal bridal jewelry. Most bridal jewelry is a pairing of pearls and clear crystals. Clean and simple jewelry that never detracts from the bride. A bride can have her wedding day jewelry custom made to her specifications. She can have her jewelry style also echoed on each of her bridesmaids, but perhaps with a bit more color to set them off.
So, when you need a gift idea think of crystal gemstone jewelry, handmade crystal bridal jewelry, crystal flutes and table lamps and Italian crystal glassware.

It was 1 800 Flowers to the Rescue
By Morgan Hamilton

I don’t really know why but I can’t seem to remember my grandmother’s birthday. I know that my grandmother was born on January 30th and I even have it written on my calendar. Of course, it really isn’t even necessary for me to have it written because I have it in my head. However, her birthday seems to fall right at the time that I am just unwinding from the holiday season and the next thing I know, it’s February. Fortunately, 1 800 flowers came to the rescue and saved me from the inevitable annual forget grandma’s birthday event.

I always seem to find myself panicking in the middle of January because I have nothing to give my grandmother for her birthday. I have to make sure that I choose a gift that will reach her in time because she lives in another state. It is just impossible for me to order a gift for my grandmother far in advance because most of the items I come across take four to six weeks for delivery. I was lucky because I discovered that 1 800 flowers offers a huge selection of gift baskets and flower arrangements that will reach her home in time for her birthday.

I can often pay way too much in shipping costs when I turn to the services of places that offer express shipping. I was able to save money when I found out that 1 800 flowers provides a great selection of thoughtful gifts without the long wait for low-cost shipping and without the high cost of express shipping. I also know that I will find a quality gift for my grandmother at a great price because they keep their prices very reasonable.

You can call to order a gift from 1 800 flowers, but you can also shop online for the perfect gift on their excellent website. You will able to see the actual arrangement through their website. Of course, you can just call them and place your order if you have something in mind. I personally prefer to use the website because I want to see what I am buying.

I am also happy with their service because they are affiliated with U Promise. This means that I can earn money towards my daughter’s education each time I buy an item from 1 800 flowers. Maybe it was a lucky accident that I can’t seem to remember my grandmother’s birthday. She is always so pleased with the gift baskets and flower arrangements that I find at 1 800 flowers and I get to put a little money aside for my daughter’s education. I never guessed that my forgetfulness would lead to a new family tradition.

Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning 1 800 Flowers.

What a Difference a Day Makes:
Macy’s Raises $9.5 Million with National Shop For A Cause Event
Annual event raises dollars for local charities throughout the U.S.
NEW YORK – October 18, 2007 – Macy’s today announced that it successfully raised more than $9.5 million with this year’s second annual national “Shop For A Cause” charity shopping event. The event was held on Saturday, October 13 in all Macy’s stores and on macys.com to help raise awareness and support for local and regional charity organizations across the U.S. The first nationally coordinated Shop For A Cause event was held in fall of 2006 and raised more than $9 million for charity organizations. “We are delighted that we again raised nearly $10 million in one day to support the important charity work that matters most to our customers in cities and towns around the country,” said Peter Sachse, president, Macy’s Corporate Marketing. “It is truly remarkable what can be accomplished when you partner the passion of local charity groups and the generosity of our customers with the reach and enthusiasm of an organization like Macy’s. That together we can make an impact of this magnitude in just one day serves as a catalyst and inspiration for future endeavors.” Through the “Shop for a Cause” program, Macy’s donates tickets to regional and local charities in all of its markets around the country, including to the American Heart Association as an extension of Macy’s national support of the Go Red For Women movement. Historical Overview of Alaska Airlines
For more than 75 years, Alaska Airlines and its people have been guided through thick and thin by a shared commitment to integrity, caring, resourcefulness, professionalism and spirit. Especially spirit - an Alaskan spirit, born in the land the airline is named after - a place where "can-do" and "neighbor-helping-neighbor" are facts of life.

The result? A long list of aviation milestones, as well as countless stories of people going out of their way to help others - both in the course of business and in support of organizations that makes our communities better places to live.

In the process, Alaska has grown from a small regional airline to one of the most respected in the nation. Carrying more than 17 million customers a year, Alaska's route system spans more than 60 cities and three countries. The Alaska Airlines fleet of 114 Boeing jets is one of the youngest among all major airlines. And its reputation for outstanding service consistently earns best U.S. airline recognition from the likes of Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler magazines.

Storied Roots
The foundation of this success was laid in 1932, when Mac McGee started flying his three-seat Stinson between Anchorage and Bristol Bay, Alaska. Finances were tight, but perseverance ruled the day—Mac and his team often worked round-the-clock, even though the next paycheck might be weeks away.

A merger with Star Air Service in 1934 created the largest airline in Alaska. After several more mergers, the name was changed a couple of times—until they found one that stuck: Alaska Airlines.

By the late 1940s, using surplus military aircraft, Alaska had branched into worldwide charter work, including the Berlin Airlift in 1948 and Operation Magic Carpet, the airlift of thousands of Yemenite Jews, to Israel in 1949.

In the late 1960s, Alaska strengthened its operating base by merging with Alaska Coastal-Ellis and Cordova airlines, legendary Southeast Alaska carriers owned by aviation pioneers Shell Simmons, Bob Ellis and Mudhole Smith. Alaska’s world now stretched from Fairbanks south to Ketchikan and down to Seattle. And in some of the coldest days of the Cold War, Alaska made headlines with regular charters to the Soviet Union.

A New Era
When Fairbanks businessmen Ron Cosgrave and Bruce Kennedy came on board in 1972, the airline was in a financial fight for its life. They went to work setting goals and bringing people together. They won back the trust of creditors and improved on-time performance. One break that went their way was the construction of the trans-Alaska Pipeline; carrying supplies, equipment and workers gave Alaska a shot in the arm.

Bottom line, customer service became key in this new era. And it put the airline on course for what would be a nearly unprecedented record in the industry: 19 straight years of profitability.

In 1979, the airline industry was deregulated. For many carriers, this was the end of the road. For Alaska, it was a new beginning. The airline expanded methodically throughout the West Coast and in 1987 joined forces with two carriers similarly committed to outstanding customer service - Horizon Air and Jet America.

By the end of the 80s, Alaska had tripled in size. Its fleet had increased five-fold. And the route map included scheduled service to Mexico and Russia.

Continuing The Legacy
Some things never change. Alaska is still differentiating itself by providing a superior level of customer service. At the same time, the airline has grown by leaps and bounds. In 2001, it set its sights eastward with new service to Washington, D.C., and hasn't looked back since, establishing footholds in other major East Coast and Midwestern cities. More recently, the smiling Eskimo headed west across the Pacific Ocean with new service to Hawaii.

Alaska has also pioneered technologies and customer innovations that make the travel experience easier. Alaska was the first airline in North America to sell tickets online and first in the world to allow customers to check in and print boarding passes via the Internet.

The airline has blazed trails in navigation technology too, which allows it to fly into fog-shrouded Juneau, Alaska, and airspace-restricted Washington, D.C., with equal precision. And Alaska's new Airport of the Future design is allowing customers to get from curbside to planeside in record time.

Whenever the history of commercial aviation is written, people ask how an obscure little airline in America's hinterland has continued to survive and thrive while once-proud giants disappeared. Grit and determination will be part of the answer. But more than that, it's the people. Their caring. Their resourcefulness. Their integrity. Their professionalism. And their spirit - the unique spirit of The Great Land where the airline was born.

How Our Clothes Are Made From a design concept born in New York by our product designers to an in-store display in one of our more than 3,100 stores around the world, each Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy product goes through a multi-stage process before reaching our customers. At any given time, our teams are working on our merchandise assortments, whether that's designing for the holiday season, creating production samples of the summer collection, or merchandising and marketing for the spring assortment. This work generally consists of five phases:

Phase I: Design and Merchandising

Great clothes often begin with a feeling, a vision, a memory ... perhaps a song lyric or a scene from a classic movie. Always looking for fresh ideas, our designers and merchants visit the world's fashion and cultural capitals — New York, Paris, London, Milan and Tokyo, for example — taking in the fashion shows, shopping new stores and observing the everyday fashion of people on the street. Then they translate their ideas into drawings, patterns, swatches and color palettes. Once concepts have been developed, it's time to turn them into real clothes. Our merchants and designers work closely together to translate inspiration into product assortments we believe our customers will want to wear. Working from designers' drawings, our patternmakers create rough sample garments. Samples are then carefully edited into focused product assortments for our brands and our customers

Phase 2: Planning and Sourcing

Once designs are set and an assortment has been chosen, planning and distribution specialists help merchandisers decide how many units of each new style to order and to which stores those units should be sent. A plan is created for each style. Buying plans in hand, it's now time to select the manufacturing facilities that can fulfill our production needs — and comply with our Code of Vendor Conduct. (Learn more about our process for selecting and approving factories.) Buyers work with factory owners to understand every detail of production, from materials, quantity and price to packaging and delivery.

Phase 3: Production and Marketing

The factory makes product samples and, using mannequins and models, we confirm the fit. Once approved, the factory begins production. Now our Marketing team steps in to meet with the merchants and look at factory samples. Based on this preview, the team develops an appropriate marketing plan to communicate the assortment and key products to our customers. Meanwhile, the factory puts the finishing touches on the merchandise, it's tested to ensure it meets regulatory standards and we conduct final quality assurance.

Phase 4: Distribution

All merchandise, samples, plans, fixtures, props and in-store displays are packed, inspected and readied for shipment to our distribution centers. Once the product arrives at the distribution centers, every single box gets checked in. Cartons are counted, quantities are confirmed and random audits are performed. As merchandise is added to inventory, it's designated for delivery to a specific store according to size, color and quantity. The distribution centers then move the merchandise to the appropriate stores.

Phase 5: Sales and Analysis

Every major seasonal delivery requires a brand new floor setup in the stores. Merchandise is placed following the guidelines of our Visual Merchandising team. Finally, our sales associates sell the merchandise to our customers. As each unit is sold, the transaction is registered for analysis by our planners and distribution analysts. These analysts monitor weekly sales trend reports and determine which stores need to be replenished with which products. Replenishment shipments typically occur one to three times per week. At the end of each season, we assess our performance, gather customer feedback, look for improvements and begin the cycle all over again.
